Where to Begin

How do you start planning a safari? Good question.

This website gives you a wealth of information to start the discovery process. We have detailed information about each country and great itineraries for each. We have descriptions with pictures for many of our favorite lodges. We have created virtual slide show tours for each of our escorted trips to paint a visual snapshot of what the trip will be like. These are a good start to figuring out what intrigues you most.

Planning your safari is an extensive and enjoyable process. The preparation and excitement before the trip ever starts are a big part of the fun. There are many factors to consider:

Where to go
It’s important to ask yourself what experiences are you hoping to have on safari? Do you want to incorporate elements of adventure activities like canoeing and rafting, history, beaches, ballooning, deserts, wine tasting or tribal culture into your trip? An example, if you are most excited about seeing elephants, then Botswana is a great choice.

Budget
Not all safaris are $10,000. Many factors affect your safaris total cost. The major elements are the level of luxury you want and the length of your trip. We can get very crafty in mixing up comfortable and luxurious accommodation to help you maximize the value of your trip.

When is a good time of year to go?
There are so many things to do and see in Africa that it is a year round travel destination. No matter when your travel availability is, there are excellent things to do and see. We can help tailor an excellent safari for your travel schedule or if there are certain experiences you hope to have, we can help you plan a trip in the heart of the season to do it. We have included a ‘when to go’ section about each country.

What is my travel style?
Are you looking for different luxurious honeymoon options? A custom family safari? An independent rustic camping safari?
