Alphonse Island, Seychelles

Alphonse Island

This is one of the best locations in the Seychelles for scuba diving and bone fishing! The chalets are cute - with a pair of bicycles included for exploring the small private island. This is a cute and more affordable private island resort option to consider.  — Mango's view

Alphonse Island lies in the heart of the Indian Ocean, 7° south of the equator and 450 kms southwest of Mahe. She is a part of the Alphonse Group that extends 16 kms from north to south. Alphonse Island was discovered in 1730 by the French explorer Chevalier Alphonse de Pontevez.

The resort is located on the east side of the island and features 25 chalets and 5 villas, built alongside the lagoon and the beach. The design offers a superb combination of luxury and originality to create a unique ambience. All units are constructed with a thatched roof and a private veranda. All are air-conditioned, elegantly furnished and have international direct access telephone, TV, mini-bar, ceiling fan, individual safe, queen size bed, ensuite bathroom with bath and African-style outside shower. Villas also include a large private terrace with Jacuzzi and a multifunction shower cabin.

The restaurant, Bijoutier, opens onto the lagoon and the swimming pool. It offers a refined cuisine that combines the best of local Creole flavors with a strong international influence. The service is attentive and yet unobtrusive. The Bar Le Lys, located in the heart of the hotel, is the right place to meet fellow guests and discuss the catch or the dive of the day, while trying one of the cocktails prepared by the skilled bartenders.

With no high mountains for many hundreds of miles around, the rainfall at Alphonse is a fraction of Mahé's ensuring good weather patterns and conditions just about all year round.

There are numerous activities available for guests to enjoy, sensitively located to avoid compromising the tranquil atmosphere of the hotel. These include a range of water sports, scuba diving, deep sea fishing and fly fishing.

Fly fishing enthusiasts will have their art tested to the limits, as the sandy flats of St. Francois are said to be one of the best spots in the world for saltwater fly fishing.
