Chobe National Park, Botswana
Chobe Safari Lodge
Chobe Safari Lodge is located in Kasane among several other lodges. It is our favorite 'great value' option in the area. The service and food are nothing to write home about, but the accommodation is very comfortable and the game experiences are as good as the 5-star lodges down the road. The game drives are plagued by there being only 1 entrance for all vehicles to enter and depart Chobe NP, so the crowds are inherent. The afternoon boat cruise is worth the trip and a highlight to many Botswana safaris. We suggest this property to people with a moderate budget who can save a little here to put towards the luxury fly-in lodges in the Okavango Delta.

The Chobe Safari Lodge is beautifully sited on the banks of The Chobe River. There are vervit monkeys, troops of banded mongoose and resident wart hogs in the lawns surrounding your rooms. Accommodation is built in condo like buildings so the grassy lawns are open to the river. Game viewing at Chobe is a unique experience as you are on the doorstep of the Chobe National Park, which hosts the largest concentration of wildlife in southern Africa. The National Park is the best place in the world to see the majestic African elephant for it is home to the world's largest elephant population, estimated to be in excess of 35,000. Game drives into the Chobe National Park depart three times daily. Afternoon boat cruises, led by expert guides are sure to be a highlight to your safari. Cruises into the National Park are a wonderful and somewhat different way of viewing the game. At dry season in particular, the wildlife congregate in the thousands at the water's edge to quench their thirst. You are sure to see families of elephant playing in the river and incredible birds on a sunset boat cruise. The dusty horizon unfolds into impressive red sunsets with strolling silhouettes of giraffe and herds of buffalo in the thousands.
