Tsavo East National Park, Kenya
Galdessa Camp
We have visited Galdessa Camp yet - but it is high on our list! Owner operated by the same family as Alfajiri on the Kenyan Coast - this camp also provides a completely private experience. The separate camp with three rooms can be booked exclusively or for groups. Tsavo National Park offer great wildlife viewing opportunities.

A stay at Galdessa Camp with its romantic, old-fashioned charm, is a real communion with Nature. The only concern of the staff at your service around the clock is your safety, comfort and well-being.
The camp has two separate main areas where guests will have their meals and relax during their free time from activities, both of them located along the Galana river, where the majority of the game congregate during the dry season. On the down stream part of the camp, there are 3 bandas only. On the upstream there are 11 bandas.
Accommodation is in comfortable and spacious bandas (thatched, semi-tented bungalows on wooden platforms) each of which has en-suite bathrooms, verandas and situated a good distance apart to provide privacy. Two of the bandas have a separate veranda on stilts. These bandas are recommended for honeymooners as you could sleep under the stars while being surrounded by elephants and hippos. The bathrooms are large and have traditional bucket showers, flush toilets and basins with running water.
The central buildings house a spacious dining area, a bar, and a large, comfortable lounge. You will be surprised and delighted by the quality and variety of the dishes the Camp cooks rustle up for you in the wilds of Africa. The thatch roof, Galana stone floors, and deep, bed-size sofas give it a charming coastal atmosphere.
The Camp's location on the river makes it ideal for sightings along its bed. The open four wheel drive vehicles will take you to explore this route and others along its seasonal tributaries (Lugards). As they often have permanent pools, they are favorites of lions, cheetahs, elephants, buffalos, and rhinos.
Longer game drives can be arranged to the Park's farther reaches on day outings with picnic lunches or with a 3-course lunch awaiting you with iced drinks at selected lunch camp sites. Bush breakfasts and dinners are also organized.
