MANGO AFRICAN SAFARIS

Bazaruto Archipelago, Mozambique

Indigo Bay Island Resort

This Rani property is the largest of their island resorts - but still has a nice feel. We like the swim up pool bar, the sunset Dhow sail and the beachfront rooms. They have just completed a giant refurbishment adding sunken bathtubs with ocean views to all oceanside rooms. It looks lovely from the pictures, but the prices have doubled to match.

The executive suites up the hillside are farther from the beach and feel like they are a part of a different resort.

The tide can go out quite a ways in the middle of the day - so bring your underwater shoes for the walk to the boat for excursions.  — Mango's view

Indigo Bay Island Resort offers exclusive island accommodation of the best possible standards, yet is understated and elegant with an emphasis on making the most of the superb location on the golden shores of Bazaruto Island.

The whole Bazaruto Archipelago is an ecological gem that has been granted National Park status. It falls into the Eastern African Marine Ecoregion, which stretches over a 4,600 kilometer coastline, from South Africa to Somalia.
