Ishasha Wilderness Camp
— Mango's view
Ishasha Wilderness Camp is an exclusive tented camp opened by Wild Frontiers Uganda in June 2005. It offers quality tented accommodation in the unspoiled and remote southern sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Ishasha, famous for it's tree climbing lions, also offers excellent game viewing including large herds of buffalo, elephant, kob, topi and other species of antelope. Its location, midway between the Mweya area of Queen Elizabeth NP and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP, makes it a natural place to spend a few nights on an Ugandan itinerary. We recommend a minimum of two nights in the camp, time permitting, as there is a lot to see in the area. With the varied eco-system, the bird life is prolific.
The camp accommodates up to 12 guests in six spacious East African Meru-style tents situated in the wooded area besides the Ntungwe River. Each tent has its own private en-suite bathroom and dressing area with hot water "bush" showers and an eco-friendly toilet.
A central dining area, also under canvas, provides a comfortable environment for delicious meals. The outdoor lounge area beside the river is great for bird watching during the day, and in the evening guests can relax around a cozy fire and discuss the day's events. All this combined offers a truly African bush experience in total comfort.
