MANGO AFRICAN SAFARIS

Timbavati Nature Reserve, South Africa

King's Camp

King's Camp offers a small and family-run feel to the list of options around Kruger National Park. The Timbavati offers a different terrain to the riverine Sabi Sands so is a nice complement. Having said that, if guests have more budget to spend on traveling to a second safari area, then Phinda/St Lucia Wetlands and Madikwe are other areas to consider. Timbavati has lots of Mopane woodland which some people find less attractive.  — Mango's view

With its unique romantic ambience, King's Camp invites guests to relax in the bushveld in fine colonial style. Situated in the world-famous Timbavati Private Nature Reserve the camp is a game-viewing haven that features elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo.

Traditional thatched suites are spacious and luxuriously equipped with air conditioning, mini-bar and ensuite bathroom and outdoor showers. For your comfort, there are gowns and mosquito repellents as well as umbrellas and torches. Your suite has its own safe and telephone for your convenience.

Camp facilities include a lounge-bar and refreshing swimming pool with a viewing deck overlooking a waterhole and a well equipped gym. Other facilities include the curio shop, laundry, valet, fax, gym and library with internet facilities. There is an exceptional wine-cellar and South African cuisine is served. Any specialized dietary requests will be catered to - prior notice required.

King's Camp's principal attraction is the astonishing diversity and abundance of wildlife species that inhabit the reserve. Mammalian species alone number 147, including 27 ungulates (hoofed mammals) and 4 large carnivores. Many of these spectacular animals are likely to be spotted even on a short visit.

There are also many lesser known animals that most visitors find fascinating to behold, from exotic reptiles and amphibians to colorful and bizarre insects. And for those with a botanical bent, there are hundreds of species of trees and shrubs (not to mention the enormous variety of grasses and other plant life).
