Kulala Wilderness Camp

This is a well run permanent tented camp located in the magnificent dunes of Sossusvlei. A great place for experiencing the desert environment and the interesting creatures that make their home here.  — Mango's view

Kulala Wilderness Camp (formerly Kulala Tented Camp) is a 10 room camp situated in a private reserve near Sossusvlei.

The camp is built at the foot of a mountain and comprises 10 thatch and canvas chalets, six twin bedded tents, one honeymoon tent with queen-size bed, 2 triple tents, and a family unit. All tents are elevated on wooden decks with double glass doors on the front to allow for a maximum view over the mountains and red dunes. They are ensuite with shower, flush toilet and hand basin, solar powered overhead fans, soap, shampoos and insect repellent are supplied in each room, and bottled water is supplied free of charge. The rooms are linked to the main dining room, bar, reception area and swimming pool by gravel pathways.

The main dining area, bar and reception are built from canvas with thatch roofing. There is a fully stocked bar and traditional three-course meals are served at dinner. At night, lanterns light the main area. There is also a small swimming pool to cool guests off in the heat.

The area is known for its physical beauty and some of the highest dunes in the world. On the edge of the oldest desert in the world, wildlife here is sparse but fascinating. Sightings of animals such as springbok, gemsbok, ostrich, bat-eared fox and aardwolf are exciting in these rugged conditions. Activities comprise excursions to Sossusvlei, early morning ballooning (at extra cost), guided walks and day and night nature drives. Guests can also go horseback riding and take a sundowner drive in the Witwater Conservation Area.

Includes: All meals, wine with dinner, drinks on safari activities, laundry and safari activities
