Linyanti Wetlands, Botswana
Lebala Camp
We absolutely love this camp! Kwando's attitude and camp style are right up our alley. This land based camp is all about the aggressive game drives. There are no set game drive or meal times. Expect to look for predator action from their famed hippo-hunting lions, packs of wild dogs, lion, leopard and hyena. Lebala did not have fans in the rooms at our last visit so it can be warm during hot weather months.

Lebala Camp is situated north of the Okavango Delta and fronts onto the Linyanti Wetlands. Lebala means "wide open spaces" in the local Setswana language and the scenery is dominated by vast plains with scattered palms and tree clumps backed by wooded savannahs. The wetlands and flood plains offer a wonderful variety of wildlife with excellent sightings of elephant, hippo, lechwe, zebra, giraffe. On game drives, your tracker perches on a seat elevated at the hood of the vehicle, giving him the advantage to stay on the trail of an animal for miles. His picking up the occasional hint of an almost invisible paw print in the sand is sure to impress you and get you up close and personal with the wildlife you traveled across the world to experience. After dark, spotlights are switched on and the game drives expose you to nocturnal sightings of rare and elusive species such as, leopard, Selous Mongoose, small spotted genet, and aardwolf, to name a few.The 8 spacious tents are unique and were designed specifically for this camp. Each one is built on a raised teak deck, laid out with maximum comfort and privacy in mind. The tents have an entrance foyer with a reading and writing area, en-suite bathrooms with Victorian claw foot bathtubs, his and her washbasins and flush toilets. The bathrooms lead out to a reed enclosed open-air shower with hot and cold running water.Mouth-watering fare is prepared by the chefs and served in the open-sided dining room. After dinner there is a wonderful campfire around which to sip a coffee or enjoy a nightcap. As you drift off to sleep, you will often hear hippo grazing out of water near your tent. In the warmer months, feel free to take a refreshing swim in the Lebala pool.
