Opened in early 2001, Mara Explorer has elevated the art of the African safari to spectacular new heights. This exclusive 5-star camp, situated on a thickly forested river in the middle of the Masai Mara NR, offers guests the ultimate wilderness retreat where you can watch elephant or giraffe drinking from the privacy of your verandah or from your own outdoor Victorian bathtub.

Accommodation consists of 10 tents decorated in distinctive 'Explorer' style with luxurious bathrooms with modern twin facilities, outdoor claw foot bathtubs, personal tent attendants, and radios for tent service. The Camp features an open-air riverfront dining area and an intimate lounge and camp library.

Private game drives with expert local guides, walking safaris in the Mara Conservation Area, riverside bush breakfasts, sundowners and dinners, and visits to local villages supported by the camp round out the activities. Transfers for early morning hot air balloon safaris (optional extra cost) are also available.

Situated in the heart of the reserve, Explorer enjoys prime views of the spectacular wildebeest migration between June and September, and some of the world's most rewarding big cat sightings during the remainder of the year.
