Mowani Mountain Camp

Unfortunately, we have not made it to Mowani yet - but it looks gorgeous! We only hear great reviews. This location is ideal for visiting the petroglyphs (prehistoric rock art) at Twyfelfontein as well as exploring the unique wildlife (desert elephant, Grevy zebra and black rhino) that make their home here.  — Mango's view

Situated on the northern face of the Huab River Valley and looking south toward the imposing Brandberg Mountains, Mowani Mountain Camp offers its guests endless vistas. Early morning mists generated by the clash between the icy Atlantic Ocean and the warm desert air of the Skeleton Coast, drift inland along the river sand canyon, providing sustenance to the flora and fauna of the region.

From the moment you arrive at Mowani, you will be spoiled with the services and attention of the excellent staff, which will go out of their way to make your stay as unique and enjoyable as humanly possible.

Mowani Mountain Camp consists of 12 luxury tents, all with ensuite facilities, decorated beautifully in East African style. The luxury tents are a great source of relaxation. Comfortably hidden in your own private hide-away, you will be pampered by crisp white linen, ensuite bathrooms, and of course your own wooden deck offering an open view of the wonderful Damara landscape. The suite will be your ultimate retreat. Built high upon a rocky outcrop, the views from every room are spectacular. This luxury thatched suite comes complete with butler service and is tastefully furnished with a distinct African flavor. The private lounge is equipped with a music center and satellite television, complimented by private dining and bar facilities. Whether relaxing in the folds of your crisp white bed, enjoying a romantic dinner under the stars or throwing caution to the wind in the open-air bush bathroom, you'll be delighted by this unique bush experience.

There are plenty of ways to relax at Mowani Mountain Camp. Discover the pool deck, lodged between the boulders where you can soak up the sun while enjoying a refreshing drink and admiring breathtaking views. Adventures and activities available at Mowani include guided nature drives in search of the elusive desert elephant and hiking through magnificent scenery.

Staying at Mowani Mountain Camp, a traveler can easily join in an excursion to explore the historical site of Twyfelfontein. Twyfelfontein is a rare example of Bushmen engravings and paintings occurring at the same site. This wonderful archeological site offers more than 2,500 engravings as well as various paintings, and is probably the finest example of rock engravings in Southern Africa.
