Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
Richards Camp
This small seasonal camp is family operated and has some of the top guides in Kenya's safari industry. Richard is young and has a great attitude. We love to recommend it whenever we can find the space!

Originally built as the Roberts' family home while carrying out conservation work in the Masai Mara, Richard's Camp is a small and exclusive tented camp where the pioneer traditions of hospitality and comfort continue. Located on the edge of a small forest, elephant and plains game are regular visitors to the camp's perimeter and bird life abounds.
Richard's Camp is owned and operated by Richard Roberts and his girlfriend designer, Liz Fusco, who moved to Kenya in 1993. Richard was raised in the Masai Mara from the age of 3. Richard's parents, Willy and Sue were instrumental in bringing together the Masai communities and forming the wildlife conservation association that exists in this area today. Richard's abundant and intimate knowledge of this area and the people, together with Liz and a warm and welcoming staff, ensure guests a very special stay.
A traditional tented camp in true African safari style with a few modern surprises, each individually decorated tent has either twin or double beds with triple rooms available for families upon request. A solar system provides clean, silent power and ensures 24-hour light to all the tents. All of the 6 large and spacious custom designed tents feature an ensuite flush toilet and heated shower. Rarely has sleeping under canvas been made so comfortable.
As the weather almost always permits, guests eat all meals outside under Kenyan skies, but for those rare rainy or chilly evenings, guests dine inside, adjacent to the beautiful and cozy sitting room with its roaring fire. Enjoy flopping on the sofa to read or just relax. At the end of the day, guests can indulge in an open-air Victorian bath tucked away in the forest, surrounded by flickering candles and the sounds of the bush.
Your day is designed to be as exciting or relaxing as you wish. There are a variety of activities from which to choose - escorted bush walks, day and night game drives, sundowners, full days out with delicious picnic lunches into the very heart of the Mara and cultural visits to Masai villages - all tailor made to ensure a rewarding safari of a lifetime. Balloon safaris and day trips to Lake Victoria can also be arranged at an extra cost.
