Serengeti Sopa Lodge

This is a large hotel located in the middle of the Serengeti. Accommodation is simple - similar to that of a Holiday Inn. We feel this is a good value for value oriented safaris.

There are only a few properties in the central Seronera area - this being one of them. You must stay at one of these properties if you want to hot air balloon in the Serengeti as it is impossible to get here early enough in the morning from elsewhere.  — Mango's view

Serengeti Sopa Lodge is located in the Nyarboro Hills in the southwest of the Serengeti National Park, and is the only tourism development in this section of the park. The vicinity of the lodge boasts a fair amount of game due to the year round water and the acacia woodland. This offers a pleasant stay as guests spot game at their doorstep.

Situated on the slopes of the hills, the lodge offers magnificent views over the rolling plains of the National Park. Opened in 1992, the lodge can accommodate 170 guests in 79 suites, each enjoying wall-to-wall carpeting, a private lounge with a mini-bar, a bedroom with two queen size beds and ample room for a third, an ensuite bathroom with shaver sockets and a hair dryer, and a private verandah which offers stunning views over the plains. The lodge has direct-dial satellite telephone facilities as well as satellite television and wildlife video film options. The double size pool offers a refreshing interlude between game drives as well as wonderful views over the rolling plains of the Serengeti.

The general atmosphere is one of colorful comfort over homogenized style, with good views from the restaurant and the service is good with the restaurant providing an exceptionally varied range of local foods.
