Soneva Fushi is a funky and fabulous resort. The small resort (65 rooms) is set on a very large island which enchants guests with a 'Robinson Crusoe' deserted island experience. Soneva defines 'barefoot luxury' as the feeling and experience completely catered to, but never snobbish or assuming.

This property runs perfectly. Our clients have remarked that the staff almost knows what they want before they realize it. Some of the less expensive rooms are a really good value and way to enjoy a resort of this caliber. Book well in advance. This fabulous resort is not a secret.

Soneva Fushi, in the North Baa Atoll region of the Maldives, is the ultimate island experience. A little off the beaten track, the adventure begins with a thirty-minute seaplane journey from Male.

The resort consists of just 65 residences on an island surrounded by a coral lagoon. A community offering 'Intelligent Luxury' in which guests can do a host of activities or nothing at all. Each villa has the luxuries found in the best hotels. Thus, the hairdryer is hidden in the drawer of a coconut wood desk; the mini-bar, safe, and quadraphonic hi-fi are concealed behind rattan; the TV and DVD are delivered in a water hyacinth basket. The villas are placed so that your very own stretch of white sand beach is just a few steps away. There is dense vegetation in between each villa creating patios and gardens for secluded enjoyment. A favorite pasttime is to lie looking out to sea contemplating the beauty of nature. Each bathroom opens onto a private garden. In the deluxe Crusoe Villas, an open staircase leads to the upstairs bedroom. Various room categories are available with and without private pools.

Dining options at Soneva Fushi are designed to make your stay on Kunfunadhoo diverse, exciting and slightly adventurous. The Executive Chef and his multi-national brigade of chefs work to produce a combination of dishes that allow the East to meet the West in culinary terms. Every effort is made to find ingredients of the highest quality and have them delivered to the island and sent as pure and fresh as they might have been served at their origin. With this philosophy in mind, the menus benefit from the abundance of fresh fish at the Maldives. To complement the dining options, the resort offers a wine list with an international content that covers many recognized and some unrecognized wine producing countries in both hemispheres.

Complimentary leisure activities include bicycle riding, table tennis, snorkeling gear, boules, windsurfing and Hobie cat sailing, board games such as chess, backgammon, and Trivial Pursuit, video and CD library and equipment available for guestrooms, jogging, badminton, canoes, tennis court, and fitness center. The on-site professional diving school is available for scuba and snorkeling excursions, water skiing, and wakeboarding.
