Sussi Lodge and Chuma House

Sussi and Chuma get consistent great reviews for their service and friendly atmosphere. Our only negative sentiment is that the guestrooms are platform safari tents which are the same accommodation at camps in the bush. Livingstone is a place to mix it up a bit with something different.

This clump of properties, Tongabezi, Sussi and Chuma and River Club are located about 25 minutes outside of town. For some, this is great since the properties are smaller and removed from the hubbub of town. For others, this is a daily hassle to get to the sites and activities of the area.  — Mango's view

Sussi Lodge and Chuma House are named after David Livingstone's faithful friends and consists of an exclusive, up market lodge and a spacious two bedroom villa; both of which take full advantage of their enchanting river-bank setting.

Guest accommodation consists of 10 luxury tree-houses, built into the living canopy of giant ebony trees lining the bank. Each unit has a private view of the Zambezi from its own deck among the branches. All tree-houses include ensuite toilet, basin, shower & bath, private viewing deck, mini-bar, mosquito nets, overhead fans, tea and coffee making facilities, and hair dryer.

The main lodge building features a spectacular raised bar/lounge deck, open air dining area, swimming pool and lawns sweeping down to the water's edge. A wide range of cuisine is served blending local ingredients with international flavors. Meals will be served outdoors where possible and often around a boma fire in the evening. Other facilities include a curio shop, conference facilities, and evening campfire pit. The Safari Spa is available for guests to relax and unwind after a long day in the bush.

Resident wildlife, such as hippo and elephant, is likely to wander through the lodge grounds at any time since in the National Park they have priority. A wide choice of activities adds to the attractions of this elegant, secluded retreat. Guests can choose from a guided tour of Victoria Falls and rain forest on the Zambian side, game drives in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park where Zambia's only white rhino can be spotted, cultural tours of Livingstone including a visit to the Museum and The Maramba Village, nature walks in the surrounding area, shopping tours in Livingstone Town, early morning or sunset river cruise on our 12 seat boat, or fishing in the Zambezi River.
