Amazing! This is a wild and special place. The quad biking and walking in the surrounding valley is fabulous. Serra Cafema's location is so remote that it offers its visitors rare and genuine interactions with the Himba people. But you really have to be willing to pay for it as the flight costs to get there are no joke.

Serra Cafema Camp is one of the most remote destinations in all of Africa, offering one of the most memorable experiences. Perched on the banks of the Kunene River, the camp shares this region with the wonderful and vibrant Himba people, some of the last true nomadic people of Africa. It is situated under big, shady albia trees with uninterrupted views of the Kunene River Valley.

The whole camp is elevated on wooden decks with walkways to each tent. Eight canvas and thatch chalets each have en-suite bathrooms with indoor/outdoor showers, private viewing decks overlooking the Kunene River Valley and the Serra Cafema hills, overhead fan and large mosquito nets. There is a small pool and a finely appointed dining area.

The variety of activities to explore the breathtaking landscape dotted all with springbok, ostrich and oryx, include traversing the sand dunes on carefully guided quad-bike excursions that tread lightly on the dunes and boating on the Kunene River. Walking in the remote mountain and river valleys are also a highlight. Nature drives in Hartmans Valley in open Land Rovers are offered, or visit a local working Himba village. The Kunene River has a large population of Nile crocodiles that can be seen sunning on the banks and palm nut vultures are seen occasionally, as well as a number of the Namibian endemics.
