Ngorongoro Manor is the most upmarket and luxurious lodge in the Karatu area near the famed crater. The price of course reflects this as the Manor is a fabulous place to include in a high end safari. We like the contrast one gets here compared to the tented safari camps offered in most other areas.

Located adjacent to the famous Ngorongoro conservation area and within a 1500-acre Arabica coffee estate, The Manor is reminiscent of an elegant up-country farm home in the Cape Dutch-style of architecture. It offers panoramic views and all the cottages are enveloped by lush gardens and ancient trees. There is a communal guest area with lounge and bar area, access to outdoor decks and fire pits as well as a stylishly furnished dining area. And throw in a library and pool house for good measure!
The accommodation consists of 18 guest suites each with a private sun terrace. A double open-fronted log-burning fireplace divides a room interior that mirrors the traditional Cape Dutch architecture. The en suite bath and shower room possesses a Victorian-style claw-footed bath, as well as twin vanity basins and large ‘rainfall’ shower. If you are travelling as a family or group then enjoy the family cottage which has its own private dining area and home entertainment center!
The Ngorongoro Crater is a fantastic place to explore - a truly unique landscape amid Tanzania's Northern Circuit. The crater walls act as a natural enclosure for the stunning valley-like crater. Impressively diverse wildlife roam the plains and during the rainy season, the center floods, creating a lake that attracts large flocks of flamingos and other beautiful water fowl. Among the wildlife there, visitors may see zebras, elephants, buffalo and lions to name a few.
