This is a lodge for people who want to get away from traditional vehicle based safaris and walk in pristine wilderness. We suggest a three night stay with the middle night spent fly camping under the stars. Walk with Samburu guides and camels to your rustic fly camp for the night, returning to the creature comforts of the lodge the next day.

Sabuk Lodge is a stunning wilderness destination, set on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in the Northern Frontier District, overlooking the Laikipia Plateau and Samburu land. Sabuk's five cottages are open at the front with stunning views of the river and cliffs. Each thatched rondavel has its own unique design, crafted from local stone and ancient cedar and olive wood, gathered from the local area. En-suite bathrooms, modern flush toilets and a private veranda with a view make each cottage a haven in itself. A new pool and massage room complete Sabuk's charm and amenities.

This hilly area with dense acacia bush is host to a lot of game which varies according to the season: greater kudu, reticulated giraffe, buffalo, impala, elephant, warthog, Klipspringer, zebra, eland, dik dik, waterbuck, lion, leopard and good bird watching. For clients spending three days, this is the perfect start and finish to a camel assisted walking safari. Walk with a professional safari guide and a team of trained Laikipia Samburu warriors as your guides through completely deserted tracts of wilderness: no other tourists, no roads or vehicles, only wildlife, breathtaking scenery, the sounds of the bush. Each trip is set to suit the group, and you can ride a camel or walk, play and swim in the river or fish from the banks.
