Mvuu Wilderness Lodge offers guests a stay in the remote and special Liwonde National Park. This park is emerging as one of the best wildlife sanctuaries in Malawi. We find this location very special as it exudes the personality of Malawi.
~ Mango Opinion
Mvuu Lodge nestles unobtrusively on the banks of a lagoon just off the Shire River - a broad, languid waterway fringed by riverine forest, Borassus palms and inundated floodplains. As Lake Malawi's only and the country's largest river it sets the stage for an awesome wilderness spectacle - the Liwonde National Park.
Accommodation at Mvuu Wilderness Lodge comprises eight spacious tents for a maximum of 16 guests, each with en-suite bathroom facilities and a private viewing platform looking out on the lagoon, ensuring prime and discreet wildlife viewing. Lodge facilities include a dining room, pub, lounge area, extensive wildlife library, a hide overlooking the river and a natural rock swimming pool.
Activities include boating, game drives (morning, afternoon and evening), nature walks and birding. An excellent diversity of animals - including large numbers of elephant and sable antelope, hippo, impala and waterbuck - can be seen in the area. A highlight is the superb river cruises where guests may get close to hippos, crocodiles and wonderful birdlife. There is a black rhino re-introduction program and it is possible (with special permission) to visit the Rhino sanctuary in the park. Huge crocodiles, leopard and serval are also fairly common.
