Etendeka Mountain Camp is located in the Damaraland North area of northwest Namibia. The lodge is set on a large private concession, the area is a scenically stunning section of red basalt uplands and contains a good range of game including giraffe, oryx, kudu and elephant. Unlike other concessions in the area, Etendeka does not target rhino and other major species, but instead concentrates more on serious walking safari, concentrating as much on the detail. This helps visitors to gain a deeper understanding and more intimate connection with this stunning, unique landscape and the creatures that call it home.

The lodge itself is a delightfully simple tented affair, with 10 guest tents and a simple mess area. Etendeka Mountain Camp is a fabulous old-style safari camp. Extensive use is made of solar power throughout, both in the kitchen and the guest bathrooms, as well as for general electricity requirements. This helps to minimize the camp's impact on this delicate and beautiful ecosystem. Necessary comforts have not been overlooked though, and these include flush toilets, hot-and-cold running water and the stunning open-air “bucket” shower. The beds are comfortable with soft linens and wonderful views from nearly all sides of the desert. The tents allow the fascinating sounds of the night to drift in. Meals are often cooked over the campfire, with hosts, guides and guests usually dining together.
