El Minzah Hotel Tangier by Le Royal Hotels & Resorts opened its doors in 1930 at the command of John Crichton-Stuart, the 4th marquis of Lord Bute, a British aristocrat with extensive interests in the area. This historical property is considered one of the most prestigious hotels in North Africa. It has been a favorite of many dignitaries, politicians and Hollywood stars.

There are several restaurants and bars in the hotel. El Erz Restaurant offers international cuisine that will appeal to all palates, while El Korsan is famous for its Moroccan specialties such as Couscous and Tagine. Open from 10 pm, Caid's piano bar is a lovely evening option, so is the wine bar with its bistro-like atmosphere and its large variety of wines. During the day you must have lunch at the Misbah club overlooking the swimming pool and gardens for a true North African experience.

El Minzah’s architecture, fountains and orange trees create a charming atmosphere day and night. True Arabesque woodwork, oriental carpets and arched doorways greet you around the lobby area, where you can enjoy traditional Moroccan tea and perhaps some almond sweets as well. Many parts of the property afford a stunning view of the bay of Tangiers and its busy port (becoming marina in the recent future). The Andalusian patio forms the heart of the hotel, with a magnificently carved sandstone portal, iron studded wooden doors and old world-charm.
