Elephant Plains is a pleasant safari lodge in a small private reserve west of Kruger in Sabi Sands. Good quality safari are offered along with value orientated accommodations. The downside is that the vehicles can tend be packed tight with other guests on safari drives. With prices so moderate, we find bookings here can be tough to secure without a good amount of lead time. Plan ahead.

Situated in the Sabi Sand Game Reserve, adjacent to the Kruger National Park, Elephant Plains Game Lodge offers comfortable style and affordable luxury. It is situated on the dry Manyeleti riverbed and overlooks a permanent waterhole. It's a great place to view the Big Five (leopard, lion, buffalo, elephant and rhino).
All luxury chalets feature exclusive open-plan suites, with each having a lounge, double bedroom, en suite bathroom (inside/outside shower) and a private viewing deck that offers spectacular views over the riverbed and passing wildlife. The five elegant rondavels are set in the beautifully landscaped garden and are recently renovated and redecorated. They have sundecks, en-suite bathrooms and all the modern comforts.
Your experienced game ranger and local Shangaan tracker are keen to share their extensive knowledge and love of the African bush with you. There are two game drives per day in open top Land Rovers. Each drive lasts about three hours with an intermediate break. During bush walks you will have the opportunity to take a closer look at animal tracks, birds, different types of grasses and trees, as well as any intriguing details of the bush that might fascinate you.
