Jacana is a darling spot with oceans (pardon the water joke) of spirit. It is wholly a water based camp offering all safari activities either on foot, in mokoro, canoes and motorboats, and seasonal safari drives. This can be limiting to some, but idyllic to others. Mixed in with some more land based camps this is a gem.

Located on a beautiful island in the Jao Concession in Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Jacana is a typical Delta camp. Surrounded by seasonally-inundated floodplains and papyrus swamps, Jacana is about 25 km west of Mombo, near the Moremi Game Reserves boundary.
Jacana has five en-suite Meru-style tents, built on raised wooden decks to take advantage of the views of the broad channels in front. The main dining area is on an elevated platform nestled between two magnificent sycamore fig trees, surrounded by dense wild date palms, with a large viewing deck and open seating area around the fire.
Being a ‘water camp,’ Jacana Camp offers primarily water activities with game drives during the summer months – dependent on water levels and time of year. The camp is set in one of the most densely populated wetland areas for sitatunga and red lechwe. Wildlife concentrations depend on the water flow and volume and thus change from season to season but all the big animals can be found regularly in the area including elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo.
