Flying via helicopter is the ideal way to see the untouched mountains and plains of Northern Kenya. On this 3 day, 4 night trip you fly to remote luxury and see landscapes that few people have seen. You start with three nights at the incredible Desert Rose and end with one night under the stars at a fly camp.

You are picked up by your helicopter pilot at Nanyuki airstrip and stop for breakfast at on the rim of Silale Crater - a vast caldera carpeted with green shrubs and open grasslands. Continuing on through the wild and spectacular changing landscapes of the Suguta – the ‘painted’ and Hoodoe valleys by late morning you arrive at the private retreat of Desert Rose, located on the cool slopes of Mount Nyiro. Lunch is served under the shady trees and next to the fresh water rock pools. While at the Desert Rose you enjoy a scenic flight to the sand dunes of the Suguta and Lake Logipi, known for its rich flamingo population.

Flying south into the remote heart of Samburu country and land by the ‘Singing Wells’ where Samburu herdsmen draw water for their livestock. Next you fly to the forested summit of the Mathews - amazing islands of forest in a sea of desert, where giant and ancient cycads grow in abundance. Finally you make it to Kipsing Valley for a stay under the starts at a private mobile fly camp. Here you enjoy lunch in the nearby Mukogodo Forest, at a hidden rock pool, and will spend the afternoon exploring the sandy luggas and wilderness by quad bikes and buggies.

Desert Rose is a unique ecofriendly lodge located at 5,500 feet asl on the verdant cedar forest slopes of Mt Nyiru, which towers majestically above the Elbarta plains, between Karisia Mountains and Lake Turkana in North Kenya.

It consists of five unique houses accommodating up to twelve people, two cottages with double beds, two twins and a family house. The houses are entirely secluded, which guarantees comfort and intimacy. All are hand-made and individually designed around various natural features. Each suite has its own private flush toilet and an open air en-suite bathroom with a bath. It also has its own patio.

The main lounge and a pool area have been hand crafted to blend with the indigenous gardens, landscaped to enhance the dramatic views. In the main lounge guests have at their disposal a fully stocked bar, a sitting room and a fireplace. If you wish, you can also make a bonfire outdoors in a specially prepared fire site.

On your way to Desert Rose you can see many exceptionally beautiful places. The journey itself, regardless of the means of transport, would make an unforgettable safari across Kenyan natural beauty and wildlife spots.
