Renowned as one of the top wilderness reserves in the world, Chobe National Park is home to the largest concentration of elephant on the African continent. It is also well known for its large herds of buffalo, as well as the two antelope that cannot be encountered anywhere else in Botswana, the puku and the Chobe bushbuck. Both the puku and the bushbuck have a number of predators to contend with, as lion and hyena are frequently encountered in Chobe and the elusive leopard can be found hiding in the riverside thickets. This is the heart of elephant country and you may spend many hours watching the huge herds in and around the Chobe River on game drives or private boat cruises. Northern Chobe is renowned for its large variety of bird and animal life, beautiful scenery and magnificent sunsets.

In the famed Chobe National Park elephant wander dreamily into camp and hippo slumber as you float down the river on a sunset cruise. You will reside in rustic yet comfortable and spacious safari tents with crisp linen-adorned beds and en suite bathrooms with flush WC and refreshing bucket shower. The best way to end a day of safari here is sipping on a cocktail while watching an African sunset over the still waters of the Chobe River from the comfort of one of our specially designed riverboats. Sundowner cruises are also a great way of seeing buffalo up close as they come out of the shade to graze in the cooler evenings and elephants as they wade in the river. Chobe is renowned for its abundance of dramatic sable and roan antelopes with their impressive horns.

A maze of sparkling lagoons, meandering channels and overgrown islands, the Okavango Delta is the world’s only inland delta. Crystal clear channels spread over the Kalahari Desert with their papyrus-fringed banks and fertile floating islands. Elegant red lechwe and shy sitatunga are found in this watery wilderness, while lion and leopard share the floodplains with giraffe and elephant. Hippo inhabit the deeper channels and lagoons, where iridescent dragonflies, frogs of every color and jewel-like kingfishers live in the lush banks. The Okavango Delta is home to a large number of species, including some that are specially adapted to the semi-aquatic lifestyle, such as the elegant red lechwe and shy sitatunga antelope. Families of hippo frolic in the channels and lagoons, while roan and sable antelope are occasionally spotted in the open woodlands. Elegant giraffe and herds of zebra can be encountered on the floodplains. Lion prefer the drier areas, while leopard can be found in dense riverine forest. The sparkling channels teem with a variety of fish, while hundreds of bird species, frogs and insects inhabit the reeded banks.

The Delta Explorer Campsite is set in a private concession area bordering the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, with a complement of camp staff to cater for your needs. Explore the waterways, islands and waterways by mokoro (dug-out canoe) and enjoy game-viewing walks on the islands. You will reside in rustic yet comfortable and spacious safari tents with crisp linen-adorned beds and ensuite bathrooms with flush WC and refreshing bucket shower.
