Carefully positioned for close proximity to the wildlife herds of the Great Wildebeest Migration, Serengeti Under Canvas camps are situated at a variety of private campsites throughout the national park and move according to the path of the migratory herds.

There are eight tents nestled at each private campsite. Tents have al fresco bucket showers. Crisp linens and crystal chandeliers in your spacious tent lend of air of extravagance. The simplicity of camping, with no mains electricity and running water, is softened by convenient touches like a flush water closet, power outlets in the vehicles and a personal butler. A dedicated sitting and dining tent provides deep sofas from which to contemplate the vastness and peace of the surrounding landscape.

During April and May this camp is located where the herds head north on their way to the Western Corridor and finds them flooding through Moru Kopjes in the South Central Serengeti. As the migration gathers momentum, the herds enter the Serengeti Western Corridor. It's here in June and July, that the wildebeest and their newborn calves meet their first serious barrier in the form of the Grumeti River and its vast crocodiles. As well as the herds that make up the migration, there are also many of the cats, as well elephants, buffalo, impala, giraffe and many other species of plains game.

Since its establishment in 1989, Rovos Rail has earned an international reputation for its truly world class travel experiences. Step aboard the wood paneled coaches - classics remodeled and refurbished to mint condition - and enjoy fine cuisine in five-star luxury as some of the most varied scenery imaginable unfolds beyond the windows.

This three-night adventure begins with the train’s departure from Rovos Rail Station in Pretoria. It then winds its way north through Warmbaths, so named for its mineral waters, and Nylstroom, christened by the Voortrekkers as the source of the Nile River as the town’s river happened to be north flowing. The train then passes the edge of the escarpment and crosses the Tropic of Capricorn en route to the border with Zimbabwe. The train travels towards Bulawayo, second city of Zimbabwe, capital of Matabeleland and industrial capital of the country. The following day sees the train travelling along one of the world’s longest stretches of straight railway line – 114 kilometres – before traversing Hwange National Park, a rich and diverse wildlife sanctuary where animals can be spotted from the train and a game drive excursion is enjoyed. After a service stop at Thompsons Junction, the sojourn ends at the incomparable Victoria Falls on the mighty Zambezi River.

There are three different options for sleeper cars to suite any type of traveler, ranging from the more simple Pullman Suites to the luxurious Royal Suites. All are a spectacular way to enjoy the journey through the beautiful landscapes.
