Machaba Camp is situated in the game rich Khwai area, on the eastern tongue of the Okavango Delta, constructed on the same site as the previous Machaba camp. The name Machaba is the local Setswana name for the Sycamore Fig Tree, the tree of life. The Machaba tree abounds in the Okavango Delta and most African riverine forests.

Machaba trees are renowned for their abundant fruit, which feed a vast array of animals throughout the year, including elephant, baboons, bush buck, green pigeons and many more.

The camp is built in the classic safari style, with ten luxury tents - eight standrad tents and two family tents. All include en-suite bathrooms and living areas, not forgetting the romantic outdoor showers. All the tents are situated on the ground and the pathways to the tents meander between the large riverine trees.

Activities include spectacular day and nights safari drives and walks with your guide. Depending on water levels, you can also explore via traditional mokoro canoes.

Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is located in the Purros Conservancy, 55km from the skeleton coast,  in the north of Namibia. Often described as one of the last true wilderness areas, the Kaokoveld is home to the nomadic Himba tribe as well as uniquely desert adapted Elephant, lion, black rhino and giraffe.

Perched on a hill above the banks of the ephemeral Hoarusib River, Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is a refuge for all those seeking a break from boisterous cars, cell phones, buzzing air conditions and the hectic rush of urban life. Possibly one of the most remote lodges in Namibia, if you make it here you will be rewarded with a genuine safari experience. Okahirongo Elephant Lodge fulfils the promise of absolute silence and complete privacy - at the same time dazzling your senses with its mix of stylish tranquillity and eccentric architecture, ultimate comfort and excellent service.

At some point in the evening lit candles will lure you to the elegant dining table in one of the two airy dining rooms or the traditional ‘boma’ (African meeting place), where you will indulge in sumptuous Italian-Namibian fusion food, complemented by excellent South African wines. The menu changes daily, with many of the fresh ingredients grown on site.
