A nice wilderness stop between Etosha National Park and Swakopmund, set in a lovely valley. Hiking and visits to see ancient rock art are a highlight.

Erongo Wilderness Lodge is nestled amid granite formations on the outskirts of an ancient volcano. These are the Erongo Mountains - a spectacular feature in the heart of a country renowned for its scenic beauty. Seasonally lush shrublands are nestled around the base of the dramatic craggy peaks, creating a serene setting for the lodge and its fantastic safari excursions. Flanked by the Namib Desert to the West and mixed-woodland savannah to the East, the mountains form a rare confluence of ecosystems that give rise to remarkable biodiversity, including a vast array of plant, reptile, mammal and bird species that are endemic to Namibia.

The lodge has ten tented chalets, built on stilts and set against towering granite formations. Each chalet has its own niche among the rocks, ensuring peace, privacy and exclusivity. The luxury Meru tents are pitched under steep thatched roofs for shade, and have netting across all windows and doors, allowing only the breeze to enter. They feature comfortable beds with crisp linens, wonderful views and en-suite bathrooms. Their decor is fresh and modern blended with safari elegance.

Activities include guided and unguided walks in the surrounding mountains, nature drives, visiting Paulas Cave with ancient San rock art and bird watching.
