Situated in the Kwazulu-Natal Drakensberg, halfway between Johannesburg and Durban, Montusi Mountain Lodge is the only destination in the area with a full and uninterrupted view of the Drakensberg's most famous part, the Amphitheatre escarpment. Our guests enjoy this spectacular scenery in the comfort of their private individual garden suites.
Activities on the estate are diverse. Guests can enjoy guided or solo hiking, horse riding, fishing, mountain biking, golfing and more. Though doing nothing is probably the most sought after pastime at Montusi. No pressure, no wake-up calls (in fact no telephone in the room), hot water all day long. Hotel Thule offers 25 custom-decorated spacious rooms, all individually refurbished with modern finishing touches. All rooms are equipped with en-suite bathroom, tea and coffee station, satellite television, fully air-conditioned, a safe and work space with free wireless internet.
Hotel Thule once was a luxury home on a Windhoek hilltop. Fascinating are the sweeping views across the city and the mountains beyond. The residence’s name Thule has been retained and was changed to Hotel Pension Thule and later to Hotel Thule. The luxury home was built by construction and property development millionaire Edmund Lafrenz in 1960, for himself and his wife Liselotte.
