Built in total harmony with the land, Encounter Mara is an authentic safari camp which blends seamlessly with the bush. The camp is located in the private Naibosho Conservancy adjacent to the Masai Mara Reserve and hidden away in a forest, it is not unusual to see a giraffe or zebra strolling through the camp.
The 10 tents are spacious with panoramic views of the rolling savanna ahead, these views are best enjoyed from the comfy couch on the veranda. All comfortable tents have en suite bathrooms with double vanity basins, flushing toilets and hot-water bucket showers. The main area is furnished in a simple, yet contemporary style which allows the views of the Masai Mara ahead to take center stage. With the main area looking out at a salt lick which regularly attracts everything from big cats to plains game, it is easy to stay in camp for the day relaxing in the lounge with a cold drink in hand, watching the wildlife come to you.
The greatest luxury of the Mara Naboisho Conservancy is the exclusivity and freedom it offers. Here you can explore the world famous Maasai Mara eco-system on foot, by vehicle and at night – a freedom just not available in the Reserve itself. This freedom means your safari experience and understanding is deeper, and therefore more rewarding. Local Maasai guides, many of whom own the land that you are exploring with them, will be alongside you to interpret the bush throughout your stay.
