Bale Mountain Lodge is an 8 room boutique Forest Wilderness Lodge in the Bale Mountains National Park of south central Ethiopia. The location of the lodge has been selected to provide an excellent opportunity for guests to experience the pristine wilderness. The central lodge blends beautifully into its hilly surroundings, and features a traditional 'tukul' dining area that overlooks the sweeping vistas of the valley and mountains beyond. All lodge ‘menyetta-bets’ (guest-rooms) are spacious and comfortable with a wood burning stove in each room to provide warmth and a cozy atmosphere. Furniture is being manufactured locally using sustainable wood, and all our soft furnishings are locally sourced and are of the highest quality with an emphasis on comfort with Ethiopian style. To help protect the unique surrounding habitats, the lodge uses eco-friendly practices for micro-hydro power, water, and waste management.

Bale Mountains National Park encompasses 2,200 square km of protected mountains, sweeping valleys and dramatic escarpments. The region is home to an impressive array of endemic creatures, including the majority of the remaining Ethiopian wolves, myriad birds, rare amphibians, mountain nyala, giant mole rats, Bale monkeys, and golden jackals to name a few. Due to the fascinating flora and fauna, the region has been named a Biodiversity Hotspot by Conservation International.
